2025 STUDY GROUPS:

$30 - Genealogy Grab Bag - 6 wks - Fridays 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Jan 10, 17, 24, 31 / Feb 7, 14.

A ‘smorgasbord’ of topics and ideas geared for the enthusiastic genealogist. At this point these include: setting annual genealogy goals, your genealogy tools, Sanborn insurance maps, the new Goldie May subscription site, City Directories, and valuable updates on the major family history research sites. We never know what we’re gonna get! Don’t miss out! NEW for 2025!

$40 - Pilgrimage Prepping - 8 wks - Fridays 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Mar 7, 14, 21 / Apr 11 / May 2, 9, 16, 23. No sessions on Mar 28, Apr 4, 18, 25. PLUS Optional Pilgrimage trips at your own expense: FamilySearch Library, Salt Lake City, Utah on Mon-Sat Jun 2-8, 2025 &/OR Newberry Library, Chicago, Illinois on Sat Jun 14, 2025.

We all must make some in-person genealogy ‘pilgrimages’ to wonderful spots for research – whether a library, a courthouse in the county where your ancestors lived, a promising cemetery, or whatever comes across your sleuthing radar. This study group will practice with a ‘specific-to-each-person’ project designed by you. We will plan for field trips, keep track of our finds, and prep for some specific sites. BONUS: join the group (at your own expense) as we make a pilgrimage to the tentative libraries listed above. Travel details will be firmed up once the group meets. Sharing with genealogy friends makes any trip more rewarding! UPDATED for 2025!

$40 - Bare Bones Beginners - 8 wks - Fridays 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Jul 11, 18, 25 / Aug 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.

This is your chance to delve into the “bare-bones basics” of researching your family history!  Find out how to start with what you know, fill out classic forms (like Family Group Sheets or Pedigree charts), use desktop software, and flesh out dates with historical stories. PLUS we will discuss basic tips to get started interviewing, checking your home, tracking sources, online search tips, using social media intelligently, and share your discoveries … WHEW! It’s a lot to pack in but it’s tackled bit by bit with plenty of time for questions. NEW for 2025!

$30 - Writing Wrap-Up - 6 wks - Fridays 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Sep 5, 12, 26 / Oct 3, 10, 17. No session on Sep 19.

Each session will focus on some aspect of writing excellent & interesting family history, whether to share with friends and family or just for your own enjoyment. The genealogy mystery series by Beth Farrar featuring heroine Ellie McClellan will be utilized as a fun jumping-off point. You might want to check out those books! We will each attempt various writing exercises and share with the group each week. Something new and different! NEW for 2025!

$20 - Ethnic Eating & Eccentricities - 4 wks - Fridays 3:00 - 5:00 pm - Oct 24 / Nov 7, 14, 21. No session on Oct 31.

We will explore together various ethnicities: their traditions (especially holidays and foods) and other interesting tidbits. All just in time to add an ancestral recipe to your own holiday celebrations! Plans are to cover German, UK, Irish, Eastern European, French & Canadian traditions but that could change according to participant interests. NEW for 2025!
